St. Vincent’s HealthCare to Kick off Holidays at Town Center

It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like the Holidays.  St. Vincent’s HealthCare will help usher in the season as the presenting sponsor of the St. Johns Town Center Holiday Spectacular, Nov. 19.

“This marks a special time of year. Not only is this a time to celebrate with friends and family but it’s a time to reflect on our many blessings and to give back to our community,” said Moody Chisholm, President of St. Vincent’s HealthCare. “We are honored to once again be a part of this family-friendly festive and joyous tradition.”

St. Vincent’s HealthCare will provide free cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure screenings from 12-9pm as well as free holiday photos. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to tour our mobile mammography unit, the only one in the city.

Whisky River Launches Toys for Tots Collection Drive


With Christmas right around the corner, Whisky River is teaming with Toys for Tots to brighten the holidays for local children in need. 

Whisky River is currently collecting new, unwrapped toys, books and other gifts which will go to less fortunate children this holiday season. Donations can be made at Whisky River through Wednesday, December 21, at which point the items collected will be distributed to children in the greater Jacksonville region by Toys for Tots.

Group donates unprecedented million dollars to launch homeless veterans' center in Northeast Florida


Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. and Affiliates (AVW) have donated $1,000,000 to purchase a building and provide start-up costs for a Jacksonville area in-house center to help veterans in need.

The group’s aggressive goal is to immediately fill a void for American heroes who have fallen on hard times during this tumultuous economy by opening the AVW Veterans Center in time for the holidays, according to Jerry Bass, National Commander, Allied Veterans of the World, Inc.

Vets on a tight budget can put away their wallets over the next few days.

Some of the nation's largest retailers are offering a satchel full of freebies to veterans and active military members in honor of Veterans Day. Most of the freebies require proof of military service. Many are restricted to specific hours on Friday, but some of the giveaways begin earlier and have fewer restrictions.

Ripley’s Welcomes Law Enforcement Personnel at No Charge


Ripley’s Attractions of St Augustine, Florida will be hosting Law Enforcement Appreciation Days from November 1 through November 23. 

All Law Enforcement personnel currently employed in the state of Florida are invited to attend the following attractions at no charge during those dates: Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum, Ripley’s Red Sightseeing Trains and Ripley’s Bayfront Mini-Golf.  They may also purchase tickets to the Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure for themselves and their guests at 50% off while also receiving discounts to over 100 shops and restaurants in the city with their Red Train sticker.
