Photo Gallery | First Coast Gears: Which Way Should Chevy Go? | SLIDESHOW

Chevrolet is showing off two new concept coupes at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week.

One looks like a baby Camaro. The other one is what a next-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse might have looked like.  Hey, just my opinion.

First up is what is for now known as the Code 130R.  It features what Chevy calls “heritage performance-inspired styling” and rear-wheel drive.  It’s conceived to have a turbocharged engine to be tuned with eAssist, which is GM’s mild-hybrid system.  EAssist shuts off the engine at stops, recaptures braking energy and helps smooths out the torque during acceleration.

The Tru 140S is a second coupe concept that Chevy is contemplating.  This one is front-wheel-drive, which Chevrolet is calling an “affordable exotic.”  The Tru 140S is based on the same platform as the Chevrolet Cruze and Volt.  eAssist might also be part of the Tru 140S package should it take it to production.

Both concepts are envisioned with a base price under $25,000.
