Traffic Change Made at Town Center to Ease Traffic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A traffic pattern change has been implemented at the intersection of Gate Parkway and Town Center Boulevard to help alleviate traffic congestion entering the St. Johns Town Center from Gate Parkway.

On Gate Parkway, the existing northbound right through lane was changed to an exclusive right turn lane onto Town Center Boulevard. In addition, two northbound through lanes were created on Gate Parkway to the left of the new right turn lane.

All appropriate pavement messages, signals and signs are in place to advise motorists of the new traffic pattern. In addition, an electronic message board has been posted temporarily to notify the traveling public about the traffic pattern change.

Passengers Stuck on Plane Returning From Baltimore

Passengers Stuck on Plane Returning From Baltimore

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Passengers on flight 1007 from Baltimore have deplaned after being stuck at the gate for about 25 minutes.

The reason for the delay is due to the front door to the plane becoming stuck.

First Coast News Managing Editor Casey Clark was on that flight and snapped these pictures for us of the commotion on the plane.

Ground crews with Southwest Airlines brought an open stairwell to the rear of the plane for passengers to deplane through the back exit.

At this time everyone has deplaned safely.

Construction This Week Means Detours for Drivers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Progress on State Road 9B is continuing, and this week that will mean a detour for drivers along 9A in the overnight hours.

The new 9B spur will take traffic from south of Baymeadows directly to U.S. 1 in Bayard, near the St. Johns County line.  An additional route from there to Interstate 95 is planned for the future, but is currently unfunded.

From 11 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday, the northbound lanes of 9A will be closed as construction workers will need the space.

Traffic headed north will need to exit 9A at U.S. 1 and reenter 9A at Baymeadows Road.

State Road 9B is scheduled for completion in 2012.
