JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – This year, when you experience the satisfied, yet suffocating feeling following your holiday meal, don’t let it confine you to the couch. Instead, come skate off the food and kick-start your New Year’s resolution to live a healthy lifestyle at Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex’s Annual Christmas Day and New Year’s Family Skates.

Both skating events are open to the public. The Christmas Day Family Skate is on Sunday, Dec. 25 from 7:00-9:30 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes skate rental, hot cocoa and a holiday cookie.

The New Year’s Family Skate is on Sunday, Jan.1 from 7:00-9:30 p.m.  Admission is $10 and includes skate rental. The Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex is located at 3605 Philips Highway.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sharks are back in the River City as ArenaBowl XXIV champions. The team landed at the Jacksonville International Airport around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Hundreds of fans waited to greet them at the gate and erupted in cheers and applause when the team came into the terminal shortly before midnight.   

Jacksonville Sharks Head Coach Les Moss tells First Coast News he was blown away by the show of support. "This is great," said Moss. "This is great for Jacksonville and obviously our franchise. These fans are the best in the league."

A full day of tennis play and exhibitions are scheduled for Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the San Jose Country Club when Jacksonville-area former touring ATP pros Brian Gottfried, Todd Martin and MaliVai Washington, along with Amer Delic, Wolfson High School tennis standout and current touring ATP pro, donate their time in a fundraising effort to “Save Jax High School Tennis.”

Several Top Athletes Train at The HIT Center

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The High Intensity Training Center, also known as The HIT Center, has been the workout home to hundreds of elite athletes over the years.  The clientele that has been training at this facility this summer includes a star college basketball player, an NHL draft pick, and several future college football players.

FC JAX Destroyers and Children’s Miracle Network to Host “A Night to Remember”
The FC JAX Destroyers and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are pleased to announce a joint effort in hosting a community event on July 21 that is sure to be a night to remember.

The FC JAX Destroyers’ July 21st match against the Central Florida Kraze will feature Jacksonville local Haley Richardson, the 2011 Florida Champion representative for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the coin toss to begin the game. Richardson was treated at Wolfson Children’s Hospital for Osteosercoma and was selected as the state representative for her bravery battling and overcoming the cancer. Miracle Children will also be present and sing the national anthem as well as serve as the ball boys and girls during the game.
