Fundraisers to Save Our Sports Scheduled This Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - This weekend marks a huge push in the fight to "Save Our Sports" in Duval County Schools.

Slow pitch softball, wrestling, lacrosse and boys and girls soccer are the final programs that still need to raise money to save their seasons this school year.

County Athletic Director Jon Fox said earlier this week that those programs needed $20,000 to $25,000 more to survive.

Tonight, lacrosse boosters will hold their first fundraiser.  The event, called Keep Lax in Jax, is a dinner and silent auction.  The event begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Fireman's Union Hall.

Saturday, a motorcycle ride will raise money for wrestling programs in Duval County.  The event will begin at Sandalwood High School at 11:00 a.m. and bikers will ride to Terry Parker High School.

Junior varsity soccer supporters will hold a benefit soccer tournament Sunday.
