JSO Employees Donate 1,700 Pounds of Pet Food to Animal Care and Protective Services
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office employees this week donated approximately 600 pounds of dog and cat food and treats to the city’s Animal Care & Protective Services’ Pet Meals on Wheels program. The food will be distributed to senior pet owners who participate in the Meals on Wheels program and may have trouble affording pet food.
“Many times, these seniors are sharing their Meals on Wheels food deliveries with their cats or dogs,” said Christine Parker, community relations supervisor for ACPS. “This helps them to keep their beloved pets – and themselves – nourished.”
The food was collected during a month-long pet food drive at JSO locations across the city. The food drive, spearheaded by Officer Tanya Nelson, took place in March.
