Brunet-García Advertising's creative team was honored at the 2011 American Advertising Federation’s 4th District ADDY Awards with two Best of Category awards, three Gold ADDYs and 15 Silver ADDYs at the event held recently in Miami.  The competition, which honors excellence in advertising, is the second step of a three-step journey, taking winning entries from the local level to the national level.

Brunet-García was the only local agency and one of only three agencies in the district to win two Best of Category awards, joining Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group and SapientNitro. Brunet-García's Players by the Sea Poster Series won Best of Advertising for the Arts and Sciences and the agency’s Block x Block Illustrations won Best of Elements of Advertising.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  A decorated firefighter, Rusty Butler spent more than two decades running into burning buildings for the city of Jacksonville.

In 1996, he had to retire. He was diagnosed with heart disease and high blood pressure.

He retired qualifying for Florida's Heart/Lung bill, which mandates that police and firefighters' medical bills related to heart disease and high blood pressure be paid for because the conditions are presumed connected with their jobs.

For seven years, Butler said he had no problems getting heart-related medical bills paid, but something changed in 2003:

The city stopped paying and started denying.
