News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A UNF computer science professor is sitting in Duval County Jail without bond.

He's charged with two counts of sexual battery against a minor between the ages of 12 and 18.  JSO officers arrested 51-year-old Dr. Arturo Sanchez-Ruiz on May 20th.

According to the arrest and booking report, he is accused of molesting, fondling and sodomizing a minor.

First Coat News spoke with Sanchez-Ruiz' attorney.
Richard Selinger said there is no evidence against his client, and the allegations are false.

UNF said Sanchez-Ruiz is on an unpaid leave of absence.
A spokeswoman wanted to be clear the case does not involve activity at UNF.

Sanchez-Ruiz is due in court next month.
