St. Luke’s Hospital Awarded Center of Excellence Designation
St. Luke’s Hospital has been designated a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The Surgical Review Corporation, an independent, nonprofit organization that advances the safety, efficacy and efficiency of bariatric and metabolic surgery, has recognized St. Luke’s with the designation along with Dr. Steven Webb and Dr. John DePeri, both weight loss surgeons who practice at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The Center of Excellence designation is earned after the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery completes an intense review of the hospital’s bariatric program to ensure the highest quality patient care is being delivered.

Brooks Rehabilitation Offers Solution to Avoid Loss of Skilled Nursing Beds

Brooks Rehabilitation has entered into an agreement with the current Glenwood Nursing Center licensee for a change of ownership.   In 2010, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) initiated legal action against Glenwood Nursing Center located in the Arlington area of Jacksonville.  Rather than allowing the Jacksonville community to lose the 119 licensed skilled nursing beds, Brooks Rehabilitation and the Glenwood licensee came to an agreement that will keep the skilled nursing beds in this region.

Duval County Emergency Management Earns National Reaccreditation

The City of Jacksonville/Duval County Emergency Management team has become one of the first local jurisdictions to earn its reaccreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). 

Youth Win Immunization PSA Contest

Each year in the United States, we lose 1,070 people to meningitis and 4,590 people to cervical cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). In an effort to spread the word about these vaccine-preventable diseases and raise awareness among teens, Brunet-García Advertising sponsored the Florida Bureau of Immunization’s You Call the Shots public service announcement (PSA) contest; inviting youth ages 11 to 18 to produce and enter a 30-second  PSA highlighting the importance of HPV and meningitis vaccinations.
