TRC Staffing Services Lends a Hand to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting families that are tackling childhood cancer, recently won a grant from TRC Staffing Services of Jacksonville that awarded the nonprofit 40 hours of free, temporary staffing support. The Jay Fund is the first of 12 organizations in the 2013 – 2014 cycle to receive the grant through the Helping Hands Grant program – an initiative aimed at supporting local nonprofits struggling to meet staffing needs within tight timetables and even tighter budgets.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Young Survivors Group at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville will be able to continue to help young breast cancer survivors thanks to a recent $1,000 grant won through Community First Credit Union’s Investing in You contest. The grant will help secure a location for monthly meetings, provide educational materials and fund outreach efforts for the Young Survivors Group.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Community First Credit Union awarded a $1,000 Investing in You grant to Compassionate Families, Inc., to benefit Camp Maddie, its therapeutic camp that provides grief recovery and support services to children affected by homicide. Camp Maddie serves as a living memorial to Maddie Clifton, an eight-year-old Jacksonville girl who was brutally murdered by her young neighbor in 1998.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Community First Credit Union awarded a $1,000 Investing in You grant to Rethreaded, a nonprofit agency dedicated to helping women victims of the sex trade industry restart their lives economically and emotionally. The grant will be used to support the agency’s T-shirt recycling business, which employs women who are emerging from lives of addiction, violence, human trafficking and prostitution.

Rethreaded collects donated T-shirts and teaches women to recycle them into new products, including handbags, scarves, and rugs. The agency sells these items, along with other products made by women all over the world, through home parties that not only raise money to reinvest in the project, but also help educate others on the horrors of human trafficking. The $1,000 grant will help the organization purchase a new sewing machine and sewing supplies.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Tiger cubs and local children will reap the benefits of a new grant awarded as part of Community First Credit Union’s Investing In You contest.

The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary, a nonprofit agency dedicated to big cat rescue, won a $1,000 grant from Community First Credit Union to fund a new cabin and platforms for its five tiger cubs. Catty Shack Ranch is the second of this year’s six Investing In You winners to receive $1,000 through this summer’s community improvement contest.
