UNF Division of Continuing Education Hosts TV-Film Directing & Performance Workshop

The Division of Continuing Education at the University of North Florida is hosting a TV-Film Directing & Performance Workshop from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a bonus afternoon session from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the University Center on campus. This one-day workshop is a place where students, as well as working professionals in the television and film business, will come together to share state-of-the-art techniques and knowledge.

Workshop sessions include:

  • The Best Secrets of How to Break Into the Business—Jerry Smith, executive producer/director of six-time Emmy Award-winning PineRidge Film & Television and his principal creative staff will share their best secrets on how to break into the business on a national and international scale. Smith’s experience with Discovery Travel Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Lifetime, PBS and Women’s Entertainment will be brought down-to-earth as he directs participants during the workshop and teaches the secrets of TV hosting.
  • LIVE Acting Workshop—Cindy Hogan, nationally recognized actor and principal teacher and founder of The A.C.T.I.N.G. Coach, will conduct hands-on workshops as participants perform scripted dramatic scenes and improvisational exercises.
  • How To Go From Nowhere to Around The World and Win a Million Dollars—Alex Boylan, winner of CBS’s original Season 2 of “The Amazing Race,” has gone on to create and perform in his own national Internet-based television series called “Around the World for Free.” Boylan is a self-made success and new enough to remember every painful step. He will share it all with you.

There will also be a bonus afternoon session, where participants will be recording edited audition tapes. Seating is limited. Registration for the morning workshop session is $39 and an additional $30 for the bonus afternoon session. To register for the workshop, contact Continuing Education at (904) 620-4200.
