Second Annual Sheriff's Roast to Benefit Police Athletic League

The Police Athletic League of Jacksonville, Inc. (PAL) is hosting the Second Annual Sheriff’s Roast on Nov. 18, 2010, at the Omni Hotel. Ron Autrey, President of Miller Electric, is this year’s honoree.

“Sheriff Rutherford asked me on behalf of the Police Athletic League to be their 2010 Sheriff’s Roast Honoree and I was delighted to accept,” said Autrey, “It was a personal experience that led me here.I met a wonderful young woman named Denisha at the PAL event last year. Her early years were spent in situations that you and I can't imagine. Through the efforts of the PAL staff, she changed her life. Recently she competed with other PAL kids from all across the United States and won the National PAL Girl of the Year competition. Quite a transition and a real testimony to her character and to the impact PAL has on kids who come from similar situations every day in our community. For Denisha and hundreds of other kids like her, I said yes to the invitation,” said Autrey.

“Our PAL donors and supporters are vital to the success of this program. Every person who joins us at the PAL roast will not only laugh and have a great time, but you will see for yourself the great work our staff is doing with these young men and women in the afterschool and sports programs,” said Sheriff John Rutherford, Honoree Chair.

Tickets and sponsorships are available for those interested in supporting the event. For more information, please contact Renée Naughton at (904) 854-6580 or visit www.jaxpal.com. All net proceeds will benefit more than 2,800 at-risk children participating in PAL’s educational, mentoring and athletic programs.
