Duval County Public Schools Announces the 2011 Florida Blue Teacher of the Year Semifinalists

The fifteen semifinalists for the 2011 Florida Blue Teacher of the Year have been named.  These teachers were selected from more than 158 school representatives based on the nomination packet they completed and classroom observation.

The following semifinalists will be interviewed by the District Selection Committee, who will then narrow the field to five finalists:

?      John Gravier, Paxon Middle

?      Edward Moore, Northwestern Middle

?      Pamela Patterson, John N.C. Stockton Elementary

?      Carla Piper, Southside Estates Elementary

?      Michelle Duravant, San Pablo Elementary

?      David Cook, Kirby-Smith Middle

?      Jacquelyn Cinotti, Oceanway Middle

The 2011 Duval County Teacher of the Year will be announced at the EDDY Awards on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. The EDDY Awards are hosted by the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, formerly the Alliance for World Class Education and the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership. The Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year will then go on to compete for the state-wide title.
