Dance Marathon at the University of North Florida, November 20-21

University of North Florida students will gather together on November 20-21, 2010 to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network.

October 20, 2010– If you were in college, wouldn’t you want to participate in the University of North Florida’s largest all night party for a cause?  November 20-21, 2010 will mark the third year that Dance Marathon at the University of North Florida has taken place on the First Coast.

From November 20-21st, 2010, over 300 students will pack the University of North Florida Arena and dedicate seventeen hours and three minutes to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network.  The seventeen hours signify the seventeen million children treated each year by Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, while the three minutes celebrate the event’s third year on the University of North Florida campus.  Dancers will begin standing at 6:00pm on Saturday, and will sit at 11:03am on Sunday morning.  All funds raised by the event will support pediatric programs at two local hospitals, Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Dancers will enjoy music, dancing and various games and competitions throughout the night. Special guests, including Miracle Children, who have been treated at either Shands Jacksonville or Wolfson Children's Hospital, will also share their stories throughout the evening to motivate the participants.

The University-sponsored event is aimed at supporting the Children's Miracle Network of Jacksonville/Brunswick.  Funds raised by Dance Marathon are used to purchase critically needed medical equipment, child life resources and educational materials.

Since Dance Marathon at the University of North Florida’s inception, the students have successfully raised over $50,000 for the cause.
